Inspired by the intelligence and beauty of  living things  and ideas, I first work to get this immediate reality onto the canvas, and then allow the painting to evolve on its own. Rarely does it end up as I imagined it would, but that is the adventure and is my partnership with the painting itself. I value and include observation, layers, and detail. I seek balance, novelty, and insight; and to express appreciation for this world and its mysteries.  I love each painting every step of the way, and know it is complete when I can’t imagine how I could possibly improve it by my own hand. I hope that each one reflects the processes and time that exist within it.
